Organizers looking to raise money for Larry Holmes statue

As the end of the year approaches, the fund raising efforts become even more vital for the Larry Holmes Statue, which is scheduled to be erected in the Spring of 2011.

“I’m very thankful for the city of Easton, sculptor Brian Hanlon and every one who is involved with this project,” said Holmes. “I’m extremely honored that they decided to do it.”

The bronze statue will stand 9 feet tall on Larry Holmes Dr., right across the street from Holmes restaurant, Ringside. Not only will the construction of the statue allow the legacy of the “Easton Assassin” to live on forever but it will bring about a new sense of pride, history, business and tourism throughout the community.

“The legacy is starting to be there,” said Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr. “The city is thrilled to honor Larry with his own statue… It is so well deserved and it will become a huge tourist attraction for the city.”

Waterbucket Media was selected to spearhead the project but everyone can get involved and be apart of this historic event. There are four donation packages that are offered, the first package starts at $125 where people will be able to purchase a brick with their name and a short message.
