Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. feels it is Bob Arum’s problem and responsibility when it comes to weight in bout with Vera

Yup, you read the headline correctly. It is not Jr’s fault if he decides to weigh in at 173lbs or 175lbs for a 168lbs contracted fight. It is Top Rank founder Bob Arum’s problem and responsibility to take care of that. Chavez Jr. is set to face Brian Vera this Saturday and by the looks of things he is going to weigh in at whatever weight he is comfortable weighing in at, regardless of his contract to fight at 168lbs.

Call it irresponsible or unprofessional but according to Jr. he should not have to sacrifice his health to make a low weight unless he is fighting for a world title. This is what he told our Marcos Villegas, but it is that same statement in which fuels the flames of criticism. Whether you agree or disagree Jr. knows he holds the trump card in this situation. On Saturday night at the Stub Hub Center, a majority of the buying public will be their to see him which undoubtedly gives him the right in his mind to come in at whatever weight he wants.
