Danny Garcia sees no new improvements in Amir Khan, favors Peterson over Matthysse

Over the past two years Danny Garcia has come up from relative obscurity and slowly worked his way to the top of the junior welterweight division quietly dispatching the likes of Nate Campbell and Kendall Holt while scoring spectacular KO wins over Amir Khan, and Erik Morales. With Garcia now at the top of the heap of the division, having beaten Zab Judah, attention has turned to Lamont Peterson and Lucas Matthysse. The winner has long been rumored to face Garcia and to be quiet honest either man would give Garcia a hell of a fight.

To Garcia though, it does not matter whom he faces, though he does favor Peterson over Matthysee both of whom fight this weekend, “It is a good even match up but I have to give it to Peterson. He is more versatile. He can box, he can bang. He is more of a banger but im sure he can move his fight a little bit.” So given that, you would think Garcia would want Matthysse to win, in order to get a less tricky man in the ring with him right? Wrong! Garcia in his heart believes he has the perfect style to not only give both Matthysse and Peterson trouble, but to be able to beat them as well.

We can only speculate who would win and why if Garcia was paired with either of the two aforementioned fighters though we will get our final answer in the evening hours of May 18th. What we can be sure of is Garcia’s opinion of Amir Khan’s last fight, and he shares a same sentiment many fight fans have voiced; that Khan looks the same as he always has and has exhibited the same problems that have haunted him throughout his career. Though a rematch between the two fighters could happen in the near future, as of current it is apparent both fighters are headed in different directions, with Khan being in the running to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.
