Well it seems Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao will share the ring once more though no titles will be on the line and they will be wearing 14oz gloves instead of 8oz. In this interview with Marcos Villegas, Freddie Roach reveals that Pacquiao’s awkward southpaw style would be beneficial for Miguel Cotto to move around with the 8 division world champion.
Cotto is set to face a determined Sergio Martinez on June 7th for a crack at the lineal middleweight title. The sparring between the two will not last long though, as Roach only intends to have the two spar minimally and for a duration of one week. Roach cites that the timing of Pacquiao’s fight is the main reason, with Team Pacquiao finishing off camp in Las Vegas while Cotto remains in Los Angeles. We can only hope that Top Rank or someone at The Wild Card will set up a live stream of the two sparring in the ring. Hell, to be honest I would throw down 10 bucks to see these two guys throw punches once more just out of sheer curiosity.
