Today is a sad day. The U.S. Men’s National Team lost a heartbreaker of a game against the waffle making country of Belgium in today’s round of 16 game. The winner would of made it off to the round of 8 and would have played against Argentina and the little wizard that is Lionel Messi. What a dream that would of been, but as much as a Team USA supporter I am, I can’t imagine how much of a nightmare it would of been for our defense having little legged Messi running circles around everyone. Now you may be wondering why the heck I’m writing about the World Cup when Canelo is on the title of this article but that’s how much of a impact today’s game had on me and the rest of the USA. Remember that commercial with the Native American growing up? The one in which he was standing and he saw someone throw a piece a trash on the ground and a tear came out of his eye? Yea that was me, twice this week (Damn you Holland!).
So when the US was battling life and death against Belgium earlier today (ugh it hurts to say that) Canelo Alvarez was working away at The House of Boxing in San Diego. Grinding it out for his very own World Cup on July 12th. On that day it will be Mexico vs. Cuba and no referees will be giving anyone a penalty kick for any type of flops. It’s a fight that will be as competitive and drama filled as all these World Cup games have been so far. Ole to that!
