Brian Vera On Chavez Jr. score cards “When I heard 98-92, I got sick to my stomach”

When we heard 98-92 I honestly thought, “oh snaps that has to be Vera, he pretty much won all those rounds.” When the second scorecard was announced as 97-93, it had reinforced the opinion that Brian Vera had beaten Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at The Stub Hub Center on Saturday night. Vera according to compubox numbers threw more punches and landed more than his bigger counter part. Those ringside felt Vera put on a great display of heart and fortitude as he jabed and at times pushed back the naturally bigger Chavez.

The punches that moved Chavez were not big shots, but looking at his face compared to Vera, you can tell they took a toll on him. Which makes it that much harder to believe that Chavez Jr. was announced the winner. Yes, he did land some big shots that shook up Brian Vera, but you can’t won a round or a fight based on landing one or two big punches. It just doesn’t work that way. We are sure Vera felt the same way, but when he heard 98-92 inside the ring last night, he had a totally different reaction.
