Angel Garcia goes off once again after questions about Danny Garcia being ready for Lucas Matthysse

Angel Garcia Pissed

Junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia is known for his action in the ring, but outside of the ring he is not known for being too animated, that he leaves up to his father/trainer Angel Garcia. Fight after fight, Angel Garcia has helped hype up bouts of his son’s by going off on opposing fighters and their crews and this time he went off on Fight Hub TV’s own Marcos Villegas.

During an interview leading up to “The One” pay-per-view mega-event, where Danny will face his biggest challenge yet in hard-hitting Lucas Matthysse, Villegas asked about a video clip from the day before where Garcia went off on Matthysse.  This only led the hot-tempered elder Garica to blow up on Villegas.

Angel got progressively more ticked off when questions about Danny having a big challenge in front of him and such kept coming from Villegas, but Angel keeps dismissing that and saying Matthysse is the one with the big fight because his son is the champion.

Sure, Danny Garcia (26-0, 16 KOs) deserves all the accolades he’s received leading up to the bout, but Matthysse is a whole different animal than say, Amir Khan or Zab Judah. Matthysse (34-2, 32 KOs) has a KO percentage of 94 percent winning by stoppage in 32-of-his-34 wins. Those kinds of number are impressive no matter whom he’s faced and much of the fighters are more than bums that Garcia tried to make them out to be.

The elder Garcia only added more fuel to the fire at the final press conference for the undercard bouts that took place Thursday at the MGM Grand. He said he would cut his own head off if Danny lost to Matthysse, in a “you know you won’t go through with your promise moment.”

No matter if you agree with Angel Garcia or not, he is a great hype man and he stands behind his son 100 percent.

Even if his opinions are understandably biased, Angel will argue with you until he blows a gasket to fight for what he feels is the correct answer. He deeply loves his son and his passion obviously comes out though the way he goes about it needs to be toned down as it can and will affect his son’s image negatively.
