Boxing promoter Frank Warren has made a bold prediction ahead of a possible heavyweight showdown, declaring, “Dubois knocks out Joshua!” This statement came following the intense face-off between the two British fighters.
Frank Warren, a man who has spent four decades in the blood and guts business of professional boxing, implied that he believes his fighter, Daniel Dubois, can knockout current world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua. The boxing promoter noted after the initial face-off between the two stalwart Britons, “I tell you what, if AJ gets into the ring with Daniel – he doesn’t go the distance.”
Daniel Dubois, a London-born knockout artist, has been dubbed the ‘future of heavyweight boxing’. At 23, Dubois holds a stunning 15-1 record, with 14 of those victories coming by knockout. Standing at 6’5” with an 78” reach, “Dynamite” Dubois is no stranger to putting opponents to sleep. It’s no surprise that Warren sees Dubois’ power being too much for Joshua.
On the other hand, Anthony Joshua, also known as “AJ”, is a seasoned veteran compared to Dubois. With an impressive 24-1 professional record, holding titles such as the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles, Joshua has proven time and again that he is one of the best boxers in his division.
Their face-off was nothing short of intense, setting the stage for a mega fight in the British boxing scene. Warren was visibly thrilled to see his fighter go toe-to-toe with Joshua.
However, this isn’t the first time that Warren has made such bold proclamations. He has a history of stoking the fires before big fights, increasing anticipation and drawing attention. Whether or not Dubois can knockout Joshua is a question yet to be answered. This would require a colossal performance from Dubois, considering that Joshua is renowned for his durability and has only been knocked out once in his career, by Ruiz Jr.
Undeniably, AJ has a wealth of experience in the ring compared to Dubois and has fought some of the best boxers in the world. Yet, the dynamism of “Dynamite” Dubois, who is currently in the prime of his career, is being perceived as a potential threat to Joshua’s reign. It will be an intriguing contest to watch if it comes to fruition, given the significant power and explosive tactics each brings to the ring.
The comment made by Warren has inevitably added to the excitement, but a potential fight between Dubois and Joshua is contingent on several factors, including an agreement between promotional teams, television rights, and of course, the boxers themselves.
AJ is also expected to face Tyson Fury in an undisputed heavyweight boxing clash, widely touted as the ‘Battle of Britain’. Consequently, a clash with Dubois cannot be considered immediate.
However, if AJ and Dubois were to step into the ring together, one thing’s for sure – British boxing fans are in for an electrifying contest. Warren’s belief in his fighter is a testament that he is confident Dubois can upset the odds.
“Dubois knocks out Joshua!” – perhaps a well-planned bombshell to set the tongues wagging or a confident predictor of a future upset? The boxing fans around the world will wait with bated breath.
