Miguel Cotto says he is the PPV seller and fights in the big arena at Madison Square Garden not Martinez

cotto huh

Being one of the biggest draws in boxing has it’s perks. Millions of screaming fans, celebrity type status, and the chance to pretty much dictate your own terms when it comes to negotiating a fight. Miguel Cotto is boxing’s third biggest draw and he flexed that in the war room when his promoters meet with DiBella Entertainment (Promoters of Sergio Martinez) to make his June 7th match with lineal middleweight champion Sergio Martinez a reality. Cotto pushed that his name be first and that he be introduced last; he got his way.

It has irked Martinez to a point that he has called his challenger a “little girl” in recent media events. Team Cotto contends that after PPV’s with Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and others, he has earned the right to have his name first (though you can say Martinez earned this by winning the middleweight title).

So thus we have Cotto-Martinez. A fight in which Cotto feels a majority of fans in the Garden on that night will be of his doing. He speaks to our Marcos Villegas and assembled reporters on this issue as he states he is the PPV seller not Sergio Martinez.
