We caught up with Freddie Roach over the weekend, as the hall of fame trainer was in good spirits as he was out at the MMA Awards just hanging out and having himself a good time. Roach has gone on record as saying he enjoys a good fight, whatever the sport and has worked with the likes of Anderson Silva, Carlos Condit, Dan Henderson and Georges St-Pierre.
According to Roach, Manny Pacquiao may have his next fight in Macau, which might not make the fine folks at the MGM Grand too happy. For those of you wondering where the heck is Macau, it is located in China. Think of it as the Las Vegas of the East, but on steroids and a little bit more like the wild west as our friends from that area tell me you are dealt pretty swiftly if your unruly or do not pay off your debts. So back to Pacquiao, the card could also co-feature Juan Manuel Marquez as it builds to the 5th encounter between both fighters in September. Roach believes a 5th fight could do huge numbers, even more so than De La Hoya/Mayweather. Possible opponents for Pacquiao you may ask? Roach mentioned Timothy Bradley but much is not known outside of that, what is known though is Roach disapproves of the recent report by Filipino doctors that Manny Pacquiao was showing signs of Parkinsons.
Roach assures us that Pacquiao has been doing fine, commenting that after his knockout loss to Marquez, he played three games of chess with his young padawan. Pacquaio is currently in Israel and Roach has spoken to him though he did not know when the eight division world champion would begin training for his next bout.
