Freddie Roach talks UFC 148: St-Pierre vs. Diaz “Nick Diaz more street fighter than boxer”

Somewhere in Lodi, Nick Diaz is packing his bags for Montreal whilst simultaneously throwing out the patented double middle-finger in Freddie Roach’s direction. It’s not every day when Nick Diaz’s boxing skills are slighted, but it’s not like it’s some message-board troll talking crap, it’s Freddie Roach, and when Freddie Roach breaks down your fight game, you better listen, no matter who you are.

Our numero uno correspondent, Marcos Villegas stopped by the Wild Card Gym today to speak to the legendary trainer, and not only did he get an earful about Nick Diaz from one of GSP’s main coaches, but he learned about Shogun Rua’s work with Roach, and how he’s already vastly improved in preparation for his rematch against Lil Nog.

On Diaz:

“I think they’re more street fighters than boxers, I think he’s a good street fighter.”

On Shogun:

“The biggest thing was that he was having a rematch with a southpaw, and he didn’t really know how to fight a southpaw. Those adjustments are now in place. He’s done what I wanted him to do when I wanted him to do it. He’s a fast learner, he has good people around him, and he’s a real pleasure to work with.”
