Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez are out the gates and running as yesterday in Times Square, New York marked the start of a unprecedented mega press tour to promote their super fight on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.
Mayweather and Canelo were respectful and cordial as we did not get much of anything new from them. It literally felt like we had a case of Deja Vu when both fighters went on stage as they pretty much spouted very PC and probably very rehearsed statements on what they feel about each other and what we can expect as fans….ah you got to love PR teams right?
Well the only thing that remains somewhat unpredictable is how the attitudes and demeanors of both these champions will change when the tour ends and they have to stare each other face to face for the 11th time when the press tour ends in Los Angeles.
Will both fighters be so sick of having to stare down at each other that it will produce some sort of scuffle by the end of things? We hope so because of right now, I see no drama that gets me extra invested in the bout.
Heres to both fighters getting so sick of each other that by the time the press tour is over we have Mayweather saying Canelo has no soul because he is a ginger and Canelo telling Mayweather he is going to knock his teeth in. With that said, the press conference today was pretty epic and we have it all on video.
