Mark Munoz talks losing 60 lbs, depression, being top ten & UFC 162 return against Tim Boetsch

It’s been covered pretty extensively this week, but we are the only outlet who gets the entirety of Mark Munoz’s drama over the last 18-24 months or so straight from the horse’s mouth. You see, leading up to his fight with Chris Weidman, Munoz technically had a broken foot and was coming back far too early from his elbow surgery, in which he had nearly two-dozen bones that were floating around removed from his elbow. In other words, he came back to fight Chris Weidman far too early, on a bum foot and a tough weight cutĀ becauseĀ of said foot, and then he got his butt kicked.

All of that led to a swirling depression with just about everyone he was supposed to fight getting number one contender shots. Munoz was this close to fighting Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2. Then his loss to Weidman leads to a title shot. It’s enough to make a man eat, and eat a lot. Munoz is not the type of guy to turn to drink or drugs, he turns to the plate, and the heaping amounts of food on it, and Munoz in turn got really, really big. Just look at those pictures above.

So now here we are, and Munoz is in some of the best shape of his life. He’s cut the fat, he’s healthy and he’s entering the Octagon against Tim Boetsch at UFC 162 on July 6th. We suggest you sit back, relax and let mark Munoz tell you the tale of the last two years, and how he plans on bouncing back like the Munoz of old.
