John Molina says he is going to make Humberto Soto bout ‘ugly’

After going 3-3 in his last six outings and coming off a knockout loss to Lucas Matthysse in what was a brutal bout in April, junior welterweight John Molina will look to nab a big win over former champion Humberto Soto on the undercard of the big “Mayhem” Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Marcos Maidana bout Saturday at the MGM Grand.

Molina has power, made evident with 22 of his 27 wins coming by way of knockout, but he has also shown he is susceptible to being knocked out himself.

In his last six bouts, Molina won via KO in two of his three wins, including a big 10th round upset knockout of TMT prospect, Mickey Bey.

During that same span Molina (27-4, 22 KOs) has lost two of his three defeats via KO, something Soto (64-8-2, 35 KOs) will be well aware of Saturday night.

Soto only has one loss in his last 22 bouts, also at the hands of Matthysse, and has won some gritty battles in those victories.

Molina said he wants to make the fight an ugly affair, something that could play into Soto’s favor, unless Molina is able to land a power shot that ends the bout early as he is predicting.

Molina could slip one in as the two fighters jockey for position and end the fight early, although there is no guarantee there as one must land the perfect blow to do so while in a rough, close quarters bout.

If history is any indicator, this bout will be a rugged affair and one of the shinning points of the undercard Saturday night.
