Golovkin focusing on his strengths, not Geale’s heading into July 26 showdown at MSG

Golovkin focused on his strengthsHeading into what many are expecting to be the toughest of his career, WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is focusing on his strengths rather than his opponent’s Daniel Geale heading into their clash Saturday, July 26, at Madison Square Garden in New York.

With how Golovkin’s career has gone so far concentrating on what he does best, attack and go for the kill, is a good game plan going off past results.

Winning 26 of his 29 professional bouts via early stoppage gives Golovkin a tremendous knockout to win ratio of 89 percent which is something no one can overlook.

Geale has never been stopped early in his career, as his two losses (Darren Barker 2013, Anthony Mundine 2009)  were the result of split decisions at the hands of the judges.

With Geale being a tough out the consensus is that Golovkin’s 15-fight win streak via KO will end Saturday night due to Geale having a strong chin and a style that could cause Golovkin fits.

Geale throws a high volume of punches and has been known to throw some devastating body shots that will test Golovkin as he has yet to see anyone come at him the way Geale is expected to.

With big names (Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto) being thrown out there for possible opponents for Golovkin’s next bout, there is little chance that Golovkin will not overlook Geale with his eyes on a possible pay-per-view showdown hanging in the balance.

With all the elements in play Saturday’s middleweight showdown should produce one of the better fights of 2014 and will give us a clearer picture of whether Golovkin is the real deal or someone that started off hot and fades away as the caliber of his opponents rises.

If you’re not lucky enough to be in attendance at the historic Madison Square Garden Saturday night you can catch all the action live on HBO at 6:30 EDT.
