Gennady Golovkin says Rubio fight is a present to So. Cal boxing fans; Curious about Rubio’s power

GGG text interview

As the freight train they call Gennady Golovkin heads west for the fist time in his career to fight Marco Antonio Rubio on Oc. 18, the fans of Southern California are receiving a gift according to GGG.

Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) is known for his tremendous power and his no-let-up in your face style of fighting, will see a similar style with Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) who should represent a stiff test.

A veteran Mexican bruiser himself, Rubio has the size and the power to bother Golovkin, but if Rubio is coming into the ring confident and ready for GGG remains to be seen.

Every a fighter is supposed to give Golovkin a challenge he destroys them, with his latest victim being Daniel Geale in July that saw the fight stopped in the third round after Golvkin proved to be too much for the former champ.

Now that Golovkin is making his Western United States debut, the logical next step is to land him a big fight that will headline a Las Vegas card, namely against the likes of Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to name a few of the possible big name fights.

These fights can only happen if the named opponents accept the challenge from Golovkin, and with the way he has been disposing of his opponents throughout his career, you can expect some ducking to take place (right Chavez Jr.?).
