Shortly after the news broke of Ray Rice knocking out his then wife broke, people immediately began to compare the former NFL star running back to undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather has been in his share of trouble for domestic violence and served two month in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas in 2012 due to one of those incidents where he attacked the mother of two of his kids Josie Harris.

After the punishment for Ray Rice culminated in his being released from the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely from the NFL after new video surfaced showing the horrendous attack, people again brought Mayweather’s name up and questioned him being able to get a license to box in any state including Nevada.

Those new complaints are unwarranted as Mayweather serving his time behind bars and completing his community service was him paying for his actions.

At the fighters arrivals Tuesday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, media had a sit-down group interview with Money May as usually is the case and he was asked about the Rice saturation.

I wish something positive (comes) out of the situation,” Mayweather said. “Things happen; you live and your learn. Nobody is perfect.”

Mayweather went on to disagree with Rice’s increased punishment after the graphic elevator video was published, something that is sure to cause some controversy.

“It was something that they (NFL) had said they would suspend him for like two games,” he said. “Whether they seen the tape or not, I truly believe that a person should stick to their word. If you tell me you’re going to do something, so what you said you were going to do.”

When questioned if he had seen the video and thought it was disturbing Mayweather said he had seen it and that a lot worse things go on in other peoples households and that it’s just not caught on video.

Mayweather also said he feels bad for Rice, not for losing out on millions of dollars, but for not being able to play football, which is his passion.

Lastly, Mayweather compared his situation to other infamous cases of domestic violence including: OJ and Nichole Simpson, Rhianna and Chris Brown, Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada, saying you’ve seen picture evidence of abuse in all of those cases, but never in his.

Pictures or not, it doesn’t make his situation any different from those mentioned and it will surely get him some negative press leading up to hi big fight Saturday night in Sin City.
