Heading into his March 8 bout with Alfredo Angulo, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is preparing for what he called a tough fight  in what will be the 23-year-old fighter’s first pay-per-view as a headliner.

Speaking to the press outside of the official news conference to announce the bout that will be held at the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas, Nev., Alvarez explained that the bout wouldn’t be a complex one, but it will test the former 154-pound champ.

Canelo (42-1-1, 30 KOS)  knows that Angulo (22-3, 18 KOS) has tremendous punching power, as made evident with 18 of his 22 wins coming by way of knockout, but likes the idea of Angulo pressing the action.

This bout with be a stark contrast to Canelo’s fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, where Mayweather used his top notch defensive skills to frustrate Alvarez and win in dominating fashion.

Despite having that KO power, Angulo has shown he is susceptible to being caught with power shots himself, losing two of his last four bouts via early stoppage, including his time in the ring against Erislandy Lara.

All though Angulo only has three losses to his 18 wins, those losses came when he stepped up his competition, losing to Lara, James Kirkland and Kermit Cintron.

With Canelo being as good as any of those fighters, the odds will be against Angulo in this bout and he will be out to prove he can beat a top rated star.

Alvarez will be out to prove that he is still one of the best fighters in the game after suffering the first loss of his career to pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather.
