Fight Hub TV exclusive: Cain Velasquez hits LA; “Brock has a good chin, but I will beat him”

The Brockness Monster vs. The Mexican wrecking machine. You mix in a little bit of good ole American gunpowder with some Mexican Tapitio and we are going to get some big ass fireworks.

This Saturday at the Honda Center in Anahiem, freakishly large Brock Lesnar who in his short 6 fight career has become the UFC’s top heavyweight, will face his biggest challenge up to date via Cain Velsaquez.

For Brock, this match is just another step in the rung of the ladder that is being a complete fighter, but for Velsaquez it signifies entering the history books as accomplishing something truly special.

There has never been a Mexican heavyweight champion in combat sports. It is pretty simple as to why, Mexicans with a frame and size to fight in the heavyweight division are usually not athletes but rather sit at home and watch TV. There was this one guy who tried, what was his name…ah yes, Chris Arreola but he failed brutally, crying in the ring after his lost to current heavyweight boxing kingpin Vitali Klitschko.

So for Velsaquez, it is not only a chance to achieve history in a fighting tradition that has already had so many great champions, but to be the first in his sport of mma to achieve something so great. It would be a great achievement if he beat the seemingly unbeatable Brock Lesnar as well, but a win for Cain could signify a shift of fan and fighter. The Latin population in the US up to this point has been seemingly uninterested about the sport of mma. It is pretty simple to explain that one, there is no one like them fighting and who is consistently winning. Everyone likes a winner and latino’s are use to cheering for winners as boxing has given them champion after champion. A win for Cain this Saturday could prove two fold, as he not only makes history but finally brings latino’s a champion worth cheering for in mma.
