Robbie Lawler takes out Jake Ellenberger with a brutal knee

Okay, Robbie Lawler is on a different level the last few years. It’s undeniable now. You know I think he beat Hendricks, and now he’s making a good case for a rematch after demolishing Jake Ellenberger, a top 5 welterweight who didn’t want to give Robbie and his 18, (now 19) knockouts respect. I don’t know if it’s Ellenberger, a plodding fighter who is damn good, yes, but possibly out of his league against this 2014 Lawler. The Bob looked, fast, explosive from the outset, and his movement tore up Ellenberger to start. It was pure dominance in the first ten minutes.

As the fight went on, Ellenberger took down Lawler a few times, then Robbie started laughing. Yes, laughing at Ellenberger’s attempt at Octagon control. A scramble later and Lawler is back to picking Ellenberger apart, until Jake realizes he needs a knockout with only a few minutes left. He starts spamming hooks but possibly breaks his hand, then Robbie busts Jake’s eye with a slick right straight and ends it with a knee. Beautiful destruction.

If Hendricks can’t fight until November, give us Lawler vs. Matt Brown for no. 1 contender, please.
