UFC champion TJ Dillashaw focused on super fights, not Urijah Faber

UFC 177: Dillashaw v Soto

When top bantamweight contenders Dominick Cruz and Raphael Assuncao both announced major injuries in a span of an hour this past Monday, UFC champion TJ Dillashaw suddenly lost two potential title fights to kick off 2015.

Once the injury news broke, rumors began swirling that Dillashaw could now potentially face off against Team Alpha Male teammate and mentor Urijah Faber.

Dillashaw quelled those rumors, and explained his outlook on 2015 in a recent interview with The Province:

The only reason why I’m fighting is because of (Urijah); he talked me into it. I was going to go to school. I definitely don’t want to fight Urijah. I know that’s what everyone probably wants to see and the UFC is probably going to push for, but me and him, we don’t want to have to fight each other.

So who does Dillashaw want to fight in 2015? His focus is set on super fights with Jose Aldo or Demetrious Johnson:

I said fighting Aldo as something that I would love to do when I saw him fight Mendes because I knew I could beat him. I would love to get that opportunity. I don’t know that it would be given to me because I haven’t fought at 145, but I know I can beat the guy.

That’s a big fight (with Demetrious Johnson), same as me and Aldo – Champion versus Champion. That’s pretty cool. That’s something that is pretty awesome and you don’t really see it happening, so I wouldn’t turn that down either.
