UFC 146 Update: Frank Mir to Fight Junior dos Santos, JDS is Big Betting Favorite

Although Dana White said he was going to wait until Alistair Overeem stood before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on a ruling on whether or not they would approve a license for him to fight, the UFC went ahead and made Frank Mir vs Junior dos Santos official. The originally scheduled JDS vs Overeem would have been a better fight but Reem’s failed drug tested prompted the UFC to make changes.

This change may is a good thing for savvy betters, check out the BetDSI.com UFC betting Odds:

FRANK MIR PK+385
JUNIOR DOS SANTOS PK-535

As you can see Junior dos Santos is the huge betting favorite. JDS is on a 9 win streak vs Mir’s 3 win streak. He also dispatched the former UFC Heavyweight Champ Cain Velasquez in the very first round without even getting a scratch on his face. JDS and Mir have fought 3 of the same opponents: Mirko Filipović, Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin. JDS scored wins over all 3 but Mir was stopped by Carwin in the first round. As you can see, there are many reasons why Dos Santos is the big betting favorite.

Rumor mill: There was a rumor spreading that Cain Velasquez (who was scheduled to fight Mir) would fight Roy Nelson and that the winner would be the #1 contender. But those rumors proved false. Roy Nelson isn’t even ranked in the top ten heavyweight rankings and he has lost ¾ of his most recent fights.  Now the word around the web is that Velasquez will fight Mir’s original opponent, Big Foot Silva. But that info comes from good sources.
