Austin Trout “Sparring with Sergio Martinez showed me I can contest with the best”

What is it like to work with a legitimate world champion? I could only imagine training alongside one as a up an coming fighter would be the experience of a lifetime. You get to see first hand what makes that athlete so special and you can apply what ever knowledge you get from the experience and tweak it for your own future greatness. Current undefeated 154lb champion Austin Trout is doing just that. Trout who has a big match up with Delvin Rodriguez on June 1st, spend a good amount of time training in Oxnard with none other than middleweight king Sergio Martinez.

In this video interview, Trout recounts the experience of working with “Maravilla,” and says that Martinez showed him that he belongs with the elite fighters in boxing if not on a higher level. We of course last saw Martinez score a KO win over Matthew Macklin at Madison Square Garden in March. What you may not know is Trout helped Macklin prepare for his former sparring partner Sergio Martinez. Trout touches on that and comments that it is all just business. Hear the full interview as he talks in depth about working with Martinez.
