The Timothy Bradley-Juan Manuel Marquez WBO welterweight title bout that went down at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev. last month did 375,000 pay-per-view buys according to Todd duBoef of Top Rank Yahoo! Sports reported.

Bradley retained his title with a split decision win over Marquez and the HBO PPV event made a profit, as Top Rank’s Bob Arum said the bout would have to do 350,000 PPV buys in order to break even.

Although the fight didn’t bring in numbers anywhere near the reported 2.2 million buys that the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Canelo Alvarez bout did in September, to see an event that didn’t feature Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao be successful is a good thing for the sport.

Although it wasn’t a giant success that fact it brought in a profit only further disputes the “boxing is dead” talk and has the sport looking to build off its huge 2013 with fighters such as Mayweather and Canelo already talking of plans of fighting multiple PPV bouts next year.
