UFC on FOX Sports 1 preliminary results: McGregor, McDonald and Siler impress.

In the main event, Michael McDonald and Brad Pickett lived up to the many thoughts that it could contend for Fight of the Night with an AWESOME back and forth affair where all of round one was McDonald dominating Pickett on the feet with slick stand up and movement, but Pickett threatened to take the second round with awesome ground and pound until McDonald locked on a great triangle. Amazing fight, and is easily the FOTN thus far!

The hype train known as Conor McGregor dominated Max Holloway with stand up that impressed in the first round, then dominated him on the ground. It was a huge win, Boston loved it, but I still think anyone in the top ten runs him over. Especially someone with a good ground game, like Dustin Poirier or Ricardo Lamas. It’s nice to see a new face though.

Steven Siler brutally knocked out Mike Brown, the former WEC featherweight champ who had a ‘meh’ UFC career and came out of retirement for this fight in Boston. Good win for Siler, and it was damn quick too. Siler talked afterwards about winning the Ultimate Fighter then beating a former WEC champion, so he wants tougher fights. Hmph.

Daniel Pineda and Diego Brandao were hyped to be a Fight of the Night contender, and man they lived up to that. Both men went back and forth with wild standup in the first round, then the fight went to the ground where they traded submissions. Eventually, Brandao was able to overcome Pineda and he got the decision 29-28 across all cards. Awesome fight.
