The Heavyweight bonanza at UFC on FOX 13 continued today as the UFC announced the third heavyweight fight for the card that is taking place on December 13th inside the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fox Sports announced earlier today that Matt Mitrione, who has won two straight fights via knockout, will jump right back on the horse to take on one of the UFC’s most tenured members in Gabriel Gonzaga.
Gonzaga has not fought since January, where he was dominated by Stipe Miocic en route to a unanimous decision loss. Prior to that bout, Gonzaga had won 5 of his last 6 all by a variety of finishes.
The Mitrione/Gonzaga bout followed the announcement of two heavyweight bangers yesterday. In what will likely be the main event of UFC on FOX 13, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos returns to the Octagon to take on Stipe Miocic.
In what could possibly be the co-main event, Alistair Overeem takes on Stefan Struve in what is likely a loser leaves town match.
UFC on FOX 13 is shaping up to be a great card already, so let’s just hope the injury bug stays far away from this event.
