UFC 178 official poster unveiled

ufc 178 new poster

While the UFC 177 pay-per-view this weekend has been getting lambasted for being the UFC’s worst offering in a number of years, UFC 178 is being praised as one of the most anticipated events in UFC history.

UFC 178 features a flyweight title fight between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and unheralded challenger Chris Cariaso. In earnest, most fans are not even very excited about the main event, because what they really care about is the rest of the stacked card.

The co-main event features the debut of the former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. After two years of being in court trying to get out of his Bellator contract, regaining the Bellator title, and sitting on the sidelines with injuries, Alvarez was finally released by Bellator unconditionally and was quickly scooped up by the UFC to fight Donald Cerrone in a bout that could potentially be fight of the year.

Also featured on the pay-per-view is a featherweight tilt between fast rising superstar Conor McGregor and perennial contender Dustin Poirier. McGregor’s assault on the UFC’s featherweight division has seen him quickly rise up the ranks, but Poirier will be the first legitimate challenger to the Irish star. In the end, a lot of questions about both men’s future in the UFC will be answered as this bout has title implications written all over it.

If that is not enough for you, the event also features the return of the former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and No. 1 women’s bantamweight contender Cat Zingano.

Today the UFC unveiled the UFC 178 poster. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Could you imagine if Jon Jones did not get injured and his title fight with Daniel Cormier was the main event of this card? Wow.
