The UFC returns to pay-per-view this weekend with a stellar card from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event of UFC 178, Demetrious Johnson looks to defend his flyweight title against unheralded challenger Chris Cariaso.
Although the flyweight title fight is an intriguing bout, much of the focus has shifted to the co-main event, and the third fight on the pay-per-view portion of the card.
The co-main event will feature the UFC debut of the former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, who is faced with the stiff task of fighting the streaking Donald Cerrone. This bout is not only a sensational one on paper, but it has huge title ramifications as well.
The other featured bout on UFC 178 is the featherweight collision between Irish superstar Conor McGregor, and UFC mainstay Dustin Poirier. This bout will be McGregor’s first test against the elite of the featherweight division, and is simply a can not miss fight.
