Yancy Medeiros defeats Damon Jackson via Submission (Bulldog/Schoolyard choke) Round 2 (1:52)

Yancy Medeiros and Damon Jackson put on a show in the first fight of the pay-per-view. After a wild first round that saw both men swinging and landing haymakers, the pace continued to increase in the second round. After several more exciting exchanges, Yancy sunk in a deep guillotine trying to tap Damon out. Jackson quickly spun his head around, but Yancy’s vice like grip did not let him go which resulted in a violent bulldog choke that put Jackson to sleep.

Carlos Diego Ferreira defeats Ramsey Nijem via TKO (punches) Round 2 (1:53)

Ramsey Nijem and Carlos Diego Ferreira put on a show in their lightweight bout. After an exciting first round that saw a ton of action on the feet and on the mat, it seemed Ferreira began to get the better of Nijem on the feet. In the second round, Nijem’s penchant for wild punches and keeping his chin up resulted in Ferreira putting him to sleep him with a beautiful right hook counter.

Bethe Correia defeats Shayna Baszler via TKO (punches) at Round 2 (1:56)

The women continued the exciting fights with a riveting back and forth war that showcased both women’s strengths. Baszler looked to get inside on Correia in the first round by smothering her in the clinch. Correia responded with brutal body shots and crisp boxing in close. In the second round, Correia opened up on the feet, battering the hurt and tires Baszler en route to the TKO stoppage.

Tony Ferguson defeats Danny Castillo via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)

In the co-main event of the evening two lightweights out to prove their status as top contenders put on a show. In the first round Danny Castillo and Tony Ferguson went toe-to-toe as Castillo looked for knockout blows early on. Ferguson nearly sunk in a D’arce choke midway through the round, but could not finish it. The second round was split evenly as Castillo had ground control, but Ferguson was impressive on the feet. The third round was mostly contested on the mat with Castillo laying on top of Ferguson as Tony landed elbows, attempted submissions, but just could not get to his feet. In the waning seconds of the fight, Castillo locked in an arm triangle, but could not finish the fight before the final bell rang.

TJ Dillashaw defeats Joe Soto via KO (Head kick and punches) Round 5 (2:20)

Although it was not the fight we expected or wanted, TJ Dillashaw and Joe Soto put on a show to cap off an exciting UFC 177 event. Dillashaw left as the champion once again after battering Soto for five rounds in a much more competitive fight than most would expect. Dillashaw’s output was simply sensational, but Soto’s defense was excellent throughout. In the end, a high kick ended the night for Soto and gave Dillashaw his second fifth round finish in a row.
