Cain Velasquez def. Antonio Silva via first-round TKO : Pure domination by Cain once again. It’s a truly incredible act, considering the insane size difference in the fight. Bigfoot just couldn’t get anything going once again and Cain was able to time the big man looking to shoot in, connecting with a HUGE uppercut that flattened Silva. Cain then finished him off with strikes on the mat. It can’t be stated enough: pure domination.
Junior dos Santos def. Mark Hunt via third-round KO: JDS becomes the second man ever to knock out Mark Hunti n an MMA competition after a grueling three round war. Each exchange between the two heavyweights was met with gasps from the crowd and thuds from their fists, as knockout blows were thrown with reckless abandon. Truly awesome fight and a contender for fight of the year. JDS throws a spinning heel kick as time expires (of all things) and knocks Hunt flat on his butt. JDS then finishes him with some brutal ground and pound.
Glover Teixeira def. James Te Huna via submission (guillotine): Glover hopped into guard and squeezed the life out of Te Huna. Teixeira looked awesome and ready to challenge the top of the division.
T.J. Grant def. Gray Maynard via first-round TKO: And along comes TJ Grant to be the next challenger to Ben Henderson’s belt. In an absolutely incredible comeback, Gray had Grant stunned early as both men were throwing with everything they had to start the fight. Then, Grant nails Gray with a perfectly timed jab that stuns Maynard and then Grant finishes him off with a relentless barrage of fists to the face along the cage. Seriously impressive.
Donald Cerrone def. K.J. Noons via unanimous decision: A bloodbath to say the least, KJ was getting bested in the standup department by Cowboy early, then once Cowboy took it to the floor it was all over. Good fight!
