Tall order: Junior dos Santos says he’s going to knock out Mark Hunt at UFC 160.

Prime Cro Cop, prime Fedor, prime Wand, Semmy Schilt, Jerome le Banner, Overeem, Kongo, Mousasi, Gary Goodridge, Stefan Leko — none of these men could knock out Mark Hunt. Zero. Only Melvin Manhoef, the man with the greatest knockout percentage in MMA history was able to finish Mark Hunt with strikes to the head in MMA, and is one of only three men across both sports to finish Hunt with strikes at all.

That’s seriously impressive stuff. So when Junior dos Santos says he’s going to knock out the K-1 champion and knockout artist Mark Hunt, it’s an interesting goal. But hey, you have to shoot for the stars, and it’s not like JDS can’t knock anyone out — eleven of his fifteen wins are via strikes — so bottom line: this fight is going to be awesome.

I just hope JDS sticks by these words and doesn’t try to sub Hunt right away. This is what JDS said to MMAMania:

“I think I’m better than him, I’m more complete fighter than him. I believe so much in myself and I believe in my skills. I can knock anyone out, and I’m going to knock this guy out. He’s very tough; he keeps trying until he knocks the guys out so he’s really dangerous. I’m going to stop him; it’s over for him. Now he’s going to lose.”

I’m starting to think this fight, and KJ Noons/Donald Cerrone are by far the two best fights this month. I just hope the winner of this fight gets the winner of Cain/Bigfoot.
