Takanori Gomi defeats Isaac Vallie-Flag in a bloodbath

UFC 144: Gomi v Mitsuoka

The Fireball Kid’s still got it. And by ‘it,’ I mean he can still throw a Hadouken with his left hand like it was 2004. Isaac Vallie-Flag put on one hell of a fight, and many say he was beating GOmi at one point, but I had it 29-28 at worst on my card. I could argue for a 30-27.

Vallie-Flag did his best in staying active and moving through Gomi’s punches, but in the end, his 1s and 1-2s simply couldn’t match Gomi’s extended combox like dwon-down right-right punch. Gomi would tear up Vallie-Flag’s face like Ryu and a mid-90’s luxury vehicle on a pier. And no matter how much he would pressure Gomi, the former Pride champion would have an answer.

At 36-years-old, there isn’t much left for Gomi to do, but his first fight back in 15 months (since Diego Sanchez robbed him in Japan) didn’t look so bad. If he wants to fight, I want to watch The Fireball Kid.
