Ed Soares “Anderson Silva watches a lot of Roy Jones Jr.; He likes the way he slips punches and moves”

Our nomad Fight Hub TV film crew spotted Ed Soares recently in Los Angeles and they were immediately struck by something. The man who is manager to Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and many other great MMA superstars was paying homage to the sweet science by wearing a commemorative t-shirt of the 1975 meeting between Muhammed Ali and Joe Fraizer. The fight of course is one of the all time greatest bouts in the history of anything competitive and if you do not know about it or have never seen it…well you should be stoned and doused with hot Cheetos while birds peck away at your spicy and orange skin.

So back to the topic at hand. Soares and the t-shirt prompted us to ask him to share his memories of that now historic bout. It opened up conversation about how much he loved former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, how his MMA fighters really admire the skill of professional boxers and how current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva watches old Roy Jones Jr. matches. So much so that if you really look at Silva’s fights, you see moves similar to what Jones did with his opponents, not to mention that both fighters made their opponents look like amateurs when they went head to head with them. With that said, listen to the interview below as Soares name drops another one of his fighters being a huge fan of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
