This has been a trying PPV, trying indeed. We got the weird Ryan Jimmo finish by OSP, Andrei Arvloski returning gloriously to the UFC with a lackluster split-decision win over Brendan Schuab. There was the boring Feijao/Ryan Bader fight, now this.
Thus far into the show, this drubbing of Tyron Woodley by Rory MacDonald with a flurry of 3-4 hit combos was the higlight of the night. Say what you will about Rory MacDonald and his serial killer attitude, but he’s a damn good fighter. Bottom line. He had Woodley outclassed in every phase of the game tonight, especially in the stand up department, and he took home a decision win in a card full of them.
So does Rory get the title fight? In my opinion that still goes to the winner of Lawler/Brown. It only makes sense, they have the most wins, and Lawler’s lone loss was almost a win in a title fight. Make that number one contender, have Rory fight and win one more.
