Last year, Hollywood was blessed with an honest, well written and superbly acted film based on the world of mixed martial arts, Warrior. Heavily promoted by Tapout and other industry figures, it turned to a breakout hit and legitimized the marketability of the sport on all aspects. It broke away from the stereotypes and cliches that can commonly destroy a themed film. This year, the great minds behind such Academy Award gems as Zookeeper and Paul Blart: Mall Cop are bringing you Kevin James in, Here Comes The Boom.
Boasting one of the UFC’s biggest and longest supporters, James is starring alongside fan favorites like Bas Rutten and Jason “Mayhem” Miller. The trailer also features Krzysztof Soszyński and Marc Delagrotti along with his Sityodong gym. The movie’s plot is Based on a high school teacher trying to raise money to save his school’s extra curricular programs. He becomes a MMA fighter en route to get the cash needed to save those programs.
This will not be on AFI’s top 100 next to The Godfather but does promise to be an entertaining night for any fan of a decent comedy and MMA. Kevin James will be rocking the 4oz UFC gloves October 12, 2012 in a cinema near you.
