Mike Pierce has a torn ligament as well as a sprained MCL

PIERCE-SCREAM-730

This Rousimar Palhares and Mike Pierce thing is the news item that just won’t go away, with people going back and forth on the subject. Was it held too long? Yes. Some have said that the hold by Palhares wasn’t completely out of control, lasting a little more than a second, after the ref touches him, but that second has damaged Pierce badly.

Straight from Pierce and MMA Junkie:

“[The doctor] says I should be feeling a lot better in 2-3 weeks and that I shouldn’t need surgery,” Pierce wrote in a text message, “but to check back with him at that point. So that’s good news.”

Here’s the thing though, was Pierce injured by the elongated hold, or was he already injured from the hold?

Simply put: it could’ve been worse?
