Junior dos Santos can’t wait for his rubber match with Cain Velasquez

It’s all tied up now – Cain Velasquez 1, Junior dos Santos 1. It’s inevitable that the third fight between these two monsters will be brought before our very eyes again, and maybe even a fourth or fifth time, who knows? The Ali/Frazier comparison has already been made, and for the MMA fan, maybe a Liddel/Couture or dare we say an Arlovski/Sylvia comparison are fair game too. Fans and media alike felt Junior dos Santos was unbeatable, and ironically, about fourteen months ago, the world thought Cain was the one who couldn’t be defeated. Now, it’s come full circle again. Cain is on top of the world and we wonder who could ever stop this guy outside of JDS?

Junior’s turn to avenge himself will no doubt come again, and in speaking with MMAJunkie radio, it’s clear that if it were up to him, he and Cain would be back in the cage tomorrow.

“I was very disappointed with myself because I couldn’t follow my strategy and do what I used to do,”   “All the time, I attack. All my fights, I hurt my hands. This fight I got my face hurt. That’s very different, but it’s part of the sport.

“I can’t wait to come back and fight again. I want to fight with him again. I won a fight. He won the other one. Now we have to have the third fight, the rematch. I’m sure everybody wants to know who is the real best. For now, he is the best, but I know people will want to see this fight again, and I can’t wait.”

“I’m feeling way better, but I can tell you I’m really sad,” “I can’t wait to fight him. I know I have a lot more to show for the fans, and I think the fans know that.”

“I didn’t fight. I don’t know why. If you watch the fight – I’ve watched the fight three times already – I didn’t fight. I just defended myself. I don’t know why. I don’t know what happened to me. For sure, it was a learning experience.”

“I think the fans would love to see this rematch right now. I would love to have this rematch right now. I don’t know if it’s possible or if Cain Velasquez is going to accept it, but I would love it.”

“I can’t wait,”  “I was ready for this fight, but something was wrong with my mentality. It was very hard for me, so I can’t wait.

Alistair Overeem fights Bigfoot Silva at UFC 156 on February 2nd, to possibly determine the number one contender to Cain’s belt.

“I know this rematch is going to happen. But if it happens as soon as possible, that’s better. I know they have Alistair Overeem in line, so I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m here.”
