Joseph Benavidez talks 4lb weight cut, giving up In-N-Out and professional dieting

Straight from the Fight Hub TV archives, UFC flyweight Joseph Benavidez speaks to our abnormally tall Mexican fight correspondent Dustin De La Torre about his recent drop from the UFC bantamweight division to the newly formed UFC flyweight division. Benavidez, who fought most of his career at 135 admitted that the weight cut was one of the easiest of his career, “I only had to cut 4lbs this last fight. No sauna, no running, it was a lot easier.”

Droping to a new weight class has forced Benavidez to make a few sacrifices as well, “I had to give up eating bowls of cereal with whole milk. I use to snack on those like four times a day. I didn’t have to worry about it before, that and In-N-Out burger. I was still able to sneak in some, but for the most part I am a lot more professional about my diet,” Said Benavidez. Benavidez is scheduled to face the winner of the UFC flyweight tournament semi-finals between Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson who both shall have a rematch on UFC on FX 3 which takes place June 8th.
