Ladies and gentlemen, we just saw a modern classic of a battle. It could’ve gone no other way, right? Hendricks vs Lawler was expected to be a war, a perfect storm of violence, and it was. This fight lived up to every possible expectation with it’s brilliant standup, high-octane back and forth action. I don’t even know, I’m dizzy. It was really that good.
I personally think Robbie Lawler won a close 3-2 decision, but you can’t complain when a fight was this close. In the end, both men rocked each other multiple times with their heavy left hands, but it was in the final minute that the fight was officially sealed by a Hendricks takedown.
Superficially, Robbie destroyed Johny’s face, which is ironic considering Johny used the “damage” quotient as a way to see who won against GSP, but what can you do? Great fight. I can’t wait to watch it again and I hope they rematch as soon as possible.
