GSP vs. Nick Diaz? Looks like it’s gonna happen.

Johny Hendricks is pissed. After what was billed to be a title elimination fight at UFC 154, Johny Hendricks fully expected a title shot after knocking out Martin Kampmann with ease. But, anything is possible in MMA, and now coming off a loss and a 1-year suspension, Nick Diaz is apparently getting a shot a GSP’s welterweight title. All of this came today from Dana White at the UFC on FOX 5 press conference. This is a transcription of Ariel Helwani’s tweets as the decision went down.

Dana just said GSP told him I want Nick Diaz. Dana said that’s probably the fight we’ll make.

Dana said that GSP doesn’t ask for much, so he feels like he has to do it. Silva and Hendricks will have to wait.

Dana hasn’t told Nick yet, but he is here. … What did I tell you, my friends?

A somewhat shocking turn of events, but one that will make the fans happy without a doubt. Many said Diaz won the interim title match against Carlos Condit (rounds 1, 2, and 5 to be specific), so to some, this is justice served. It seems like GSP really wants to fight Nick Diaz in the worst way.
