GSP vs. Nick Diaz in Montreal on March 16th? Dana seems to think so…

Could the fight that enraptured an audience for almost all of 2011 actually happen in 2013? It looks like it. Dana White recently told MMAFighting.com that a fight has been offered to both “The King of PPV” Georges St. Pierre and Mr. 209 himself, Nick Diaz for UFC 158 March 16th in GSP’s home of Montreal. This fight has almost happened so many times we’ll believe it when we see it, especially considering nothing has been signed yet. But why wouldn’t they sign? This would undoubtedly be one of the biggest PPV’s of 2013 if it actually happens. The only loser in this situation is Johny Hendricks, who has knocked out and or decisioned every welterweight in his path. Earlier this month he knocked out Martin Kampmann in glorious fashion in what was allegedly a number one contender bout, but now he’s back on the shelf. Why has Johny been leapfrogged? Don’t forget Dana had this to say last week:

“Georges St-Pierre has been a phenomenal champion, just a great guy to deal with for us,” “He doesn’t ask for things. So if he wants to fight Nick Diaz, and Nick Diaz wants to fight him, then that’s probably the fight we’ll make.

“Georges has been off for a year. (Silva is) a tough fight for him to come back to. He asked personally for the (Diaz) fight.”

Ask and you shall receive GSP.  You even get home cage advantage. UFC 158 will also have Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald II on the card. We know Johny Hendricks needs a fight, why not make it a welterweight night?
