Georges St-Pierre said he won’t fight again without Freddie Roach in his corner

We know that GSP and Freddie Roach go back years now, and even though their training has never reached the level of a full camp, GSP holds Freddie Roach in high regard, as he should. Such high regard, in fact, that Freddie Roach has told Yahoo that GSP spoke to Freddie, and GSP refuses to fight again without Roach in his corner. Wow. That’s saying a lot for someone who has never even been in GSP’s corner. why would it come to this?

Well, Freddie Roach pretty much explains why GSP needs him, IF Georges actually comes back to fight, that is.

“He said, ‘I’m not going to fight again unless you are in my corner,'” Roach said. Asked to clarify if that meant on fight night, as well, Roach said, “Absolutely.” To this point, Roach has never been in a UFC fighter’s corner on the night of a fight.

“This guy [Hendricks], he doesn’t know anything, he just punches good with a big left hand,” Roach said. “Pretty much with him, if you can stay away from that and nullify that, it’s not that tough of a fight. Georges did it, and he had success with it when he did, but he didn’t do it enough in the fight.”

The fact that the rest of GSP’s team couldn’t relay that same information to him in the fight is somewhat worrisome, but GSP ended up taking it in the end, so…
