Freddie Roach “Anderson Silva is too big! St-Pierre is not comfortable moving up in weight”

Fight fans love the idea of super fights and current UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has already been involved in one. When he faced BJ Penn and defended his welterweight title in 2009 many said the next logical opponent for St-Pierre would be UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Three years have passed since then and both are still champions though the talk about a potential super fight between them has intensified. Silva made some comments to various media outlets quoting that regardless if St-Pierre wins or loses against Carlos Condit, he would still like to face him.

It prompted us to go out and speak to Freddie Roach who helps St-Pierre in the boxing aspect of his game. Roach who is in Las Vegas preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for his bout with Sergio Martinez revealed that St-Pierre wants him to come to Montreal and help his pupil prepare for Carlos Condit. Roach also revealed that he believes that Anderson Silva is too big of a fighter for the naturally smaller St-Pierre, “Anderson Silva is too big. Georges is not comfortable moving up in weight. He likes the weight he is fighting at now and I do not think the fight is going to happen because he is too big for him.” Let us hope that St-Pierre in the next few months changes his mind on fighting Silva as it is a fight he can realistically win; Until then we can only dream and imagine how that fight would play out in our minds.
