Eddie Alvarez just got extremely real about his Bellator/Spike/Viacom situation on Twitter.

There’s no other way to put it other than it absolutely sucks that one of the best lightweights on the planet is sitting on the sidelines in the prime of his career, but it’s happening, right before our very eyes. Eddie Alvarez, the former Bellator lightweight champion, and pretty much consensus #1 free agent on the market/top 5 lightweight is wallowing about, not having a fight since his last bout in Bellator against Patricky Freire in October of 2012.

The crux of the lawsuit against Eddie comes to matching deals. Spike/Bellator supposedly have “matched” the deal given to Eddie by the UFC, which includes PPV money, fights on FOX, and a hefty per-fight purse. The cash is no problem, they can match that, but what about PPV dollars? How could SPike match that if Bellator doesn’t even have  a PPV to run? Well, therein lies the problem: SPike/Viacom/Bellator believe that they will be producing a PPV in the future with Eddie headlining against current lightweight champ Michael Chandler, the man he lost his Bellator lightweight belt to in a fight of the year match. Here’s the counterpoint: Spike doesn’t get as many eyeballs as FOX, and even if Bellator did put on a PPV, no way it would garner as many buys as a UFC PPV, thus Eddie is getting offered “less” than the UFC is offering.

Despite that logical stance, the lawsuit carries on.

Eddie took to Twitter to let his fans know how rough it’s gotten for him:
