Dana White unfazed by GQ ‘sleazy’ label: ‘Everybody isn’t going to love you’

Earlier this week, the wildly popular entertainment magazine GQ named it’s top 25 “biggest sleazebags in sports.” Coming in at No. 8 on the list, sandwiched between Lance Armstrong and War Machine, was UFC president Dana White.

When news broke that White was named in the top 10 by GQ, many expected an epic tirade from White lashing out at GQ for the label. Instead, White gave his response in a more relaxed manner than most expected.

“You’re never going to be able to stop what people say about you, and everybody isn’t going to love you,” White told UFC.com. “But I don’t take offense to anything. When you’re in a public position like this you’re always going to have people say things about you. Believe me, if I worried about everything that was said about me, I would have been a mess a long time ago. That kind of stuff doesn’t bother me at all, not even a little bit.”

What did bother White was the fact that GQ stated that the UFC “underpays” it’s employees.

“It was definitely written by someone who is uneducated about the sport,” White continued. “I’m sandwiched between War Machine and Lance Armstrong. The thing that’s unfortunate is that it’s unfair for the UFC as a brand. UFC pays its fighters very well.”

Fighter pay has been an ongoing issue throughout MMA for years. At this point, however, there is no question that the UFC pays it’s fighters the most out of all the organizations as it should.
