Dana White “Cain vs JDS Is Only Fight on FOX”

Today, the Ultimate Fighting Championship held its media conference call for the company’s upcoming debut on the Fox network and the super fight it will host: UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title.

UFC president, Dana White kicked things off with a rundown of the event’s details. All preliminary fights will be broadcast live on the UFC’s Facebook page as well as Fox.com. This means everyone gets to see Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson. The day before the fight, White stated the weigh-ins will be aired live on FuelTV.

As for the Fox show, White wants you to get ready for a “completely different format” with backstage features, interviews and extensive fight breakdowns. The UFC president also explained that the heavyweight title fight will be the only fight aired on Fox, regardless of the outcome – “even if it only goes 10 seconds.”

The always short-spoken champion was quick and to the point in most of his response to media questions of this fight: “It’s a great honor.” On the challenge in front of him Velasquez declared “Dos Santos is a great opponent” and added, “He’s impressive. Dangerous in all areas.”

 Waiting was hard, but the UFC gave me a lot of opportunities.” Junior Dos Santos had to linger quite a while for this shot but his patience has paid off in spades, affirming he is “proud of my work and proud to be a part of history.” A large portion of fight fans are picking JDS in this bout in this historic bout and the challenger thinks nothing less. “Exciting time, but I want to go in there and show my best.”

“I’m confident in Junior and Cain. We made this the first fight for a reason.” White said in reference to the fight itself delivering. “The fight is the least of my worries.” The two fighters agreed that with their aggressive styles it’s highly unlikely this bout will go five rounds, much less be lackluster.
