I’m at a loss for words. I made as many jokes as humanly possible about this fight and how it simply shouldn’t have been booked, but like so many times, I look like a fool, an absolute fool. The fight started simply enough, with both men getting their distance, trying to find range. It went slow, the seconds felt like minutes, then all hell broke loose.
Hendo fell to Shogun’s mighty fists, then fell again. Shogun had Hendo like Hendo had Shogun in the first fights. He barely made it out of the first two rounds, getting mounted, bombs raining down upon him. It’s a miracle that Hendo was even able to work back to his feet. I thought he was completely out multiple times. Then, even as Shogun was besting him in the third, Hendo landed a shot that floored Shogun, the second shattering his nose and snapping Hendo’s three-fight losing streak.
Unbelievable fight.
