Dan Henderson says the TRT ban isn’t going to fix the real problem

UFC 139: Shogun v Henderson

Two PED-related articles in a row must mean there’s something trending. Where there is smoke, there’s fire, right? Kind of. While we can all agree that. Maybe that’s why I’m having a hard time caring as much as I should be caring about the rematch to one of the greatest (if not the greatest) MMA fight of all time – Henderson/Rua. Now it’s forever marred as the fight holding the asterisk stating that it’s the last fight to feature a fighter on TRT. But then again, there’s so much more to this.

Will it be Hendo’s last fight? Maybe. Who knows. Will Shogun be returning to form? Maybe, who knows? Will TRT banning stop steroid users? No. Hendo knows this.

“I’m sure there’s a lot of guys who need [TRT] and a lot of guys who were on it that didn’t, but I have no idea,” said Henderson. “The biggest issue is that it didn’t solve any problems by taking it away. It doesn’t really address the real issue of tackling the problem of performance enhancing drugs.

“I think if they really wanted to make a statement they should have done more drug testing and implemented no advance notice in drug testing. Show up at guys’ houses at odd hours and make them give blood and pee in a cup.”

“I’m pretty much going to get this fight handled and then worry about the changes later, that’s my mindset and I don’t need to make any decisions now.  I’m going to have to do some research and see what’s out there.”
