Chael Sonnen talks Belfort, Bisping and how Bisping would fare against Anderson Silva

Ultimate Fighting Championship Launched In Manchester

What? What’s this? For once we hear kind words about another human being who doesn’t vote Red and doesn’t belong to Team Quest coming out of the mouth of Chael Sonnen? This is real life. And Chael Sonnen has nothing respect for the Brit he stole a split-decision from back at UFC on FOX 2 in Chicago last January. Chael reached for a microphone and in the only way he could, he broke down what should be a barn burner of a fight this Saturday in Brazil at UFC on FX 7, AKA UFC: Bisping vs. Belfort.

“It comes down to this, I know I would beat the hell out of Vitor Belfort, and Bisping gave me one of the hardest fights on my life,” “So it follows Bisping will beat Belfort.”

“Vitor should come out like he always does, trying to end the fight right away,” Sonnen said. “He can do that. He can finish Bisping early. There’s no point in trying to save his energy for the later rounds because, no matter how hard he’s trained for this fight, Bisping will always have more in the tank from the second round. Belfort should just do what he does, go for the win in the first three minutes.

“If Bisping gets to the third round, Vitor is in for a very painful experience. Bisping just doesn’t get tired. Believe me, I know. And this is a five-round fight. Bisping can win this in the third or fourth round.”

Interesting breakdown from the number one contender to the light heavyweight championship. We would be down to watch Belfort vs. Chael in any weight class or scenario. But what about the middleweight title implications that are hovering around this battle between Belfort and Bisping? This is what Chael had to say about the possibility of a Bisping/Anderson matchup:

“I really want to see Bisping win this fight and get his title shot. He deserves it. It is long overdue. Bisping has a big heart, he always comes to fight hard, he never backs down and he never quits. I know he can beat Anderson Silva and be the middleweight champion. There’s no question in my mind Bisping can beat Anderson.”

Ummmmm we don’t know about that one.
