Bellator isn’t interested in resigning Ben Askren, won’t stand in UFC’s way.

Bellator is quickly becoming the Amanda Bynes of MMA organizations, and I guess I’m fine with that, but it’s clear Bjorn Rebney has completely lost control of his business, and Spike is running it into the ground. Now, Bellator has announced they are willing to let their best fighter and welterweight champion, Ben Askren, go to the UFC for a host of reasons. You read between the lines.

Bjorn Rebney, Bellator MMA chairman and CEO, told ESPN.com:

“I don’t think we’re going to make an offer at this point,” “So I don’t see any reason to make anybody sit out. If Ben’s going to go to the UFC, we should speed up that process so he can go fight. I’d love to see Ben versus GSP,” Rebney added, referring to Georges St-Pierre.

“If the UFC does make an offer, we’ll take a look at it and move on from there,” Rebney said. “We haven’t been proactive yet. I have nothing but good things to say about Ben as a fighter, but we’re all very aware of how he fights and what he does. It’s not for everyone.”

So basically Bjorn is saying that they aren’t interested in signing Askren due to his smothering style. The guy who said he wouldn’t sign UFC cast-offs, has now signed Rampage, Tito, The Janitor, kendall Grove and more. Then he let’s his best fighter go because he doesn’t stand and bang. Ridiculous.
